About the producer, Avignonesi :
Located within the area included in the DOCG of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the winery takes its name from the historical Avignonesi family, founders of the estate and one of the most appreciated realities of the rich panorama of Tuscan wines.
From production techniques to grape varieties, Avignonesi is one of the most representative wineries in Tuscany and Italy in general also at an international level.
The properties of the historic company, founded in 1974, extend both in the Montepulciano and Cortona areas (in the Val di Chiana in the province of Arezzo): in the 5 different Sienese locations it is possible to ensure a diversified spectrum of soils that allows the production of a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano that authentically expresses the complexity of the terroir, while the Val di Chiana is suitable for the cultivation of other grape varieties such as Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
In 2009 Virginie Saverys took over the Avignonesi property, making it grow in size and at the same time, making it a leader in biodynamic viticulture in Italy.
Thanks to Virginie’s respect for the ecosystem, her staff and the end consumer, the winery has begun to produce organic wines that are linked to their origins, but unique and unique. And in the best biodynamic approach, Avignonesi’s wines receive minimal intervention in the winery.
Sustainability also plays an important role in Avignonesi’s everyday life.
To date, the estate has grown to 175 hectares of vineyards, including the purchase of a state-of-the-art winemaking plant in the Montepulciano appellation.
It is Virginie’s perseverance to take care of the land and her irresistible willingness to produce a wine that is quite unique and true to its origins that has made it possible to bring life back to the vineyards and create a healthier working environment for all staff.
Avignonesi wines enhance the richness and elegance of Montepulciano’s heritage.
Wines made from Sangiovese grapes have been produced here for centuries and the fascination that surrounds this appellation is accentuated by the approach of “returning to the fundamental principles, without unnatural intervention” that biodynamic viticulture entails.
This methodology and the passion shared by the entire staff for the production of high quality products, thanks to the deep conviction of the values shared by the management team, allow Avignonesi to respect the innate character of each wine, following its natural path from the soil to the cellar and, finally, to the glass!
