DESCRIPTION:
Sancta Catharina is an intense, complex wine, with complex aromas of raspberry, blackberry and hints of dark chocolate. Full bodied with velvety tannins and a long fruity finish, it brings together the ease of the Sangiovese grape with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

GRAPE VARIETIES: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot

SOIL: Clay and stuff. Area of production: Varies Elevation: 300 – 350 meters a.s.l. Average plant age: 20 years

WINE-MAKING TECHNIQUE: Soft press; spontaneous fermentation with use of local yeasts in stainless steel at controlled temperatures 26-28°C; maceration on skins for 28 days with pump-over.

AGING: 24 months between wood and bottle

AGING POTENTIAL: About 20 years

AVERAGE YEARLY PRODUCTION: 5.000 bottles

The passion of the Dei family took shape in 1964 with the decision to buy the land of Bossona where the first vineyard was planted. An extraordinary place, ideal for the production of great red wines. It is 1985, a year of exceptional harvest,

when the Dei family, after having decided to undertake the wine-making process on their own, comes out with its first bottle of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

The secret of the success of the Cantine Dei is the respect for the territory and the passion for wine.

A company that keeps the tradition intact while projecting itself into the contemporary world.

From a careful management of the vineyard in which every single vineyard identifies a wine, the best wine production of Montepulciano can be expressed: the Sangiovese.

A choice based on quality with maximum yields from 40 to 60 quintals per hectare, well below then the provisions of the specification and a density of 4700 vines per hectare.

This is how the queen of wines was born, the Riserva di Nobile di Montepulciano Bossona an expression of the best terroir, a wine with a complex, elegant and balanced structure, Rosso di Montepulciano, young, with a bright ruby red color, vinous and fruity on the nose.

And then again the Vino Nobile with a brilliant ruby color and intense aromas of ripe cherry and plum.

Harmonious and fruity on the palate, fresh and mineral, however, the white Martiena will not cease to amaze.
