Rosato Maremma Toscana Sassotondo :

Ciliegiolo and Sangiovese for our rosé 2019. The grapes from our vineyards in Pitigliano and Sovana are harvested and selected by hand.

The must used to produce this rosé wine is separated from the skins immediately after destemming when the colouring substances in the skin have not yet spread.

Fermentation takes place without the addition of yeasts in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of about 18°C.

It is a salmon pink coloured wine, with a complex bouquet, good body and minerality, with acidity balanced by the right alcohol content.

About the producer, Sassotondo :

The wines of Sassotondo want to be an expression of their powerful and mysterious territory: the autochthonous grape varieties and an environment that is in some ways extreme, with tuff emerging everywhere, produce fine and elegant wines, naturally concentrated, savoury and spicy.

The 12 hectares of the farm are located between the towns of Sorano and Pitigliano. The area is considered altimetrically “hillside”, but it appears as a succession of high lands, interspersed with deep ravines dug into the tuff by inconstant watercourses.

The company falls in fact in the DOC Bianco di Pitigliano, Sovana and Maremma Toscana.

Sassotondo’s is an old underground cellar, completely dug into the tuff in a cliff of the farm land. In the last room, separated from the rest of the cellar by a long corridor (about 14 metres underground and 30 metres from the entrance) is the cooper, who enjoys ideal humidity and temperature conditions in a completely natural way.
