It is a production limited only to really excellent years, through a rigorous selection of the grapes. Respecting the land deeply, it is the best expression of quality of Sangiovese Grosso di Montalcino. A rare diamond that will surprise even the most demanding palates and that, with its great structure and persistence, will lead you on an exceptional sensorial journey. About the producer, Franco Pacenti :

The Franco Pacenti estate is located at the foot of the hill of Montalcino, on the north-east side, in the blessed basin of the Canalicchio, a classic and historical area, counted among the most suitable of the denomination. Founded in the 60s by his father Rosildo, it is still family-run by Franco Pacenti. The company covers an area of 36 hectares, 10 of which are vineyards. The only vine cultivated is Sangiovese from which Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva are produced. 10 hectares of Sangiovese Grosso, interpret the true essence of this vine in a historic area, capturing its peculiarities and nuances, maintaining the typicality and combining manual work with the use of technology in respect of the traditions handed down from generation to generation. The vineyards of the estate, facing north-east with an altitude of around 300 meters above sea level, rest at the foot of the hill of Montalcino. In the classic area of Canalicchio, one of the most suitable of the denomination, the fresh microclimate favours an optimal, slow and gradual maturation, developing in the wine noble and elegant scents. The current winery was built at the beginning of the 2000s, following the transformation carried out by Franco Pacenti from a multi-purpose company to an internationally recognized company specialized in viticulture. Today the heart of the company, the new winery, designed on a single level minimizing the environmental impact within the UNESCO site of Val d’Orcia, dialogues between past and present, welcoming in a functional way all phases of production. In the cellar ends the long and noble path that comes from the vineyard, with a natural transformation of the grapes, without forcing, and a strictly traditional vinification with prolonged maceration on the skins and long aging in medium-large oak barrels. Here, where tradition and technology merge, the wines find the ideal conditions to mature in its maximum expression, exalting the Sangiovese, enhancing the terroir and the peculiarities of each vintage. Elegant and powerful wines at the same time, fruit of the perfect combination of traditional knowledge and modern technology, expression of the territory and the men who cultivate it. At Canalicchio the classic interpretation of Sangiovese gives life to wines of character, elegant and powerful at the same time, emblem of the work of the farmers and their wise hands.
